BOOK LAUNCH EVENT

IPS Academy, School of Architecture hosted a significant event on October 19, 2023, Architect and Author Ar. Surinder Bahga unveiled his monumental work, Form Follows Roots: Architecture of India 1985-2021, in the presence of our esteemed Ar.Achal K Chaudhary and guiding light of School of Architecture Prof. (Dr.) Manita Saxena. Prof. (Dr.) Manita Saxena exclusive co-authorship of a chapter added a unique touch to the event. The day commenced with a symbolic plantation drive at the Construction yard & plantation pit, emphasizing the commitment to environmental stewardship. Following this, students were treated to an enlightening and interactive session with Ar. Bahga on sustainability, creating a pivotal moment for their educational journey. The discourse provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of sustainable architecture, enriching the student understanding.

National Convention of Architectural Engineers

The Institute of Engineers (India) Indore Local Center, in collaboration with IPS Academy, School of Architecture, presented the 38th National Convention of Architectural Engineers on November 19-20, 2023, at Brilliant Convention Center, Indore. This 2-day National Conference focused on “Carbonizing Cities- Harmonizing Building, Mobility, and Infrastructure,” featuring insightful presentations from across India. The School of Architecture’s faculty showcased their expertise by presenting 8 research papers on various topics. The highlight of the event was the Architectural exhibition by IPS Academy, School of Architecture, captivating attendees and becoming the talk of the town. Prof. (Ar.) Abhay Vinayak Purohit, the President of the Council Of Architecture (COA), graced the event as the Chief Guest.

ORIGAMI WORKSHOP

IPS Academy, School of Architecture, Indore, proudly hosted a Paper Engineering Workshop “CUT-FOLD-CONSTRUCT” in collaboration with COA-TRC, Bhopal on December 18-19, 2023. The 2-day workshop, facilitated by India’s only paper engineer, Mr. Arun Desai of Studio Chitte in Bengaluru, unfolded with the inauguration graced by Dr. Navneet Munoth (Hon. Director of COA-TRC, Bhopal) and School of Architecture Principal Prof. (Dr.) Manita Saxena. The introductory session delved into the world of Paper Engineering, followed by hands-on training where students explored cutting and folding techniques in groups. On day two, each group showcased their intricately crafted paper models. The event was a resounding success, with all groups presenting beautiful paper models under the expert guidance of Mr. Arun Desai.

Vertical studio (INDORE HERITAGE WALK)

IPS Academy, School of Architecture, Indore, recently hosted an engaging week-long joint design studio venture with RVS Padmavathy School of Architecture, Chennai, named “Vertical Studio.” The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Manita Saxena, followed by an insightful introductory design brief by Ar. Sachin Paliwal, Design Head at IPS Academy, and a faculty member from RVS, Chennai. The learning journey continued with a fascinating lecture on Bio mimicry by Ar. Deepal Kilewal. 

As the studio unfolded on Day-2, students delved into creative exploration and collaborative design processes. Day-3 took the participants on an educational trip to Maheshwar, allowing them to document the history and architecture of the Holkar dynasty. Day-4 saw the diligent compilation of data and completion of assigned tasks.

The cultural immersion continued on Day-5 with a heritage walk in Indore. Led by expert historian Mr. Zafar Ansari and IPS Academy’s faculty, students explored iconic sites, gaining insights into the history and architecture of each location. The week culminated on Day-6 with students presenting their work to the esteemed Jury Members. The exceptional efforts of the students were acknowledged, and certificates were awarded, marking the successful conclusion of the “Vertical Studio.” This collaborative design venture not only fostered creativity but also provided valuable practical insights into the architectural field.
